On Friday night members of Team LLK put their glad rags on and we headed into the Queen Elizabeth Hall for The annual Oldham Business Awards, where we were defending our crown as Oldham’s ‘Business of The Year £1-5 Million!’. Team LLK won the coveted award last year against some tough competition and this year the pressure was on to see if we could retain our title and make it three years in a row against some tough competition. This year LLK went head to head against two incredible Oldham businesses, A-C Tyres and Precision Pallets.
The evening was a spectacular event, hosted by The BBC’s Louise Minchin who delighted the audience with an inspirational talk regarding mental health and how competing in Triathlon’s has shaped the person she is today. The evening also consisted of a range of performances from Madhlo, including an acoustic performance and a ‘Greatest Showman’ performance which got the guests prepared for the night ahead!
The awards commenced with some fantastic businesses winning a range of awards and a delicious 3- course meal was served by our customers, The White Hart in Lydgate who have one of our Andiamo Pizza Ovens at their venue! The meal was delicious consisting of Leek and Potato Soup for starters, Poached and Roasted Chicken, Charred Asparagus and a wild mushroom sauce for the meat eaters and a delicious Artichoke Risotto as a vegetarian option. Desert was a delicious Vanilla Crème Brule and to top it off guests were treated to an incredible cheese board to finish off the evening- which our Technical Director, William thoroughly enjoyed. Throughout the meal, we were treated to songs by the amazingly talented, Megan McConnell.
After dinner, it was our turn to take the stage along with our fellow finalists to see who would be crowned the winner. Unfortunately, LLK was not named winners of this years award but a massive congratulations go to our fellow finalists, Precision Pallets who took home the title!
The evening was rounded up with the presentation of this years ‘Special Recognition Award’ went to Laura Smart from KPMG for her amazing work within the Oldham Business scene. The evening was a fabulous event and we will surely see everyone next year here we hope to be finalists once more!
