LLK goes to Dublin!
Members of team LLK were invited last week by our lovely friends at The Kerry Group to visit them in Ireland and see what they have been working on at their state of the art facility. At 11 am on Thursday 10th August our Marketing Executive Grace and our newly appointed Directors Jenna Lewis and William Pilling touched down on the tarmac at Dublin Airport to start their Irish adventure.
The first stop on the trip was to Kerry Group HQ, in Naas approximately 40 minutes from Dublin Airport. Kerry Group is a world leader in global food ingredients and food innovations and it is highly likely that you have consumed products which they have created. Some of their customers include all 4 of the big supermarket chains and other brands such as Costa Coffee, Richmond sausages and much MORE!
On arrival to the facility, it is fair to say we were extremely gobsmacked at the sheer size of the operation and we were even more dumbfounded when we toured the facility. Our hosts for the day were Gillian, Thomas, Lee and Andy who we will be working closely with at the upcoming PAPA exhibition taking place at Olympia on the 15-16th November. We even sampled some of the food and drink that Kerry will be demonstrating on their stand at the show and it was delicious.
Once we toured the facility, it was time to hit the streets in search of pizza! Our tour guides for the evening Gillian and Lee met us at The Bernard Shaw in Dublin a spot which is becoming incredibly popular with locals and when we walked in it was easy to see why. The seemingly normal public house boasts an impressive beer garden with a variety of Street Food stalls with something for everyone.
We were most impressed with ‘The Big Bus’, a double decker bus that had been converted into a pizza restaurant, with the kitchen downstairs- which our eagle eyed Technical Director Will, noticed featured one of our Cuppone Tiziano Pizza Ovens- and a seating area upstairs. After casting our eyes over the vast menu we decided on the following pizzas. ‘The Dalai Llama’ ‘The Smokey Joe’, ‘Get the Goat’, ‘Bus Bianca’ and ‘Pablo’s Pepperoni’ as well as some delicious Bruschetta. We were very impressed with the standard of the pizzas we were served, the toppings of the pizza were fresh, the tomato base was delicious and the crust was perfect.
After we had sufficiently stuffed our faces with the delicious pizza we decided that we still had room for dessert so we headed outside to see what the other food trucks had to offer. One truck caught our attention straight away, The ‘Bubble Waffle Factory’ stall that made waffles, covered in Nutella, marshmallows and whipped cream made to order- who could resist!
Our final stop of the evening was to the famous Temple Bar where we soaked up the Irish culture and drank (a lot) of alcohol before eventually calling it a night, leaving ourselves with very sore heads in the morning.
Grace, Jenna and Will would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff over at Kerry Foods for inviting us over to their facility and being such great hosts.
